Urbino is one of the most important italian cities, it is rich in Renaissance art and architecture. In 1998, its historic center has been recognized by UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city of medieval origin, has enjoyed its heyday in the 15th century, when the Duke Federico da Montefeltro hosted in his court the greatest artists, architects and scholars of the time.

The city is a destination for all art lovers. The Palazzo Ducale is the centerpiece of the city’s historic center and home to the Galleria Nazionale delle Marche which houses one of the most important Renaissance paintings  in Italy. The city is home to the university which was founded in 1564. Here was born the famous painter Raffaello Sanzio. His birthplace is now a museum where you can see a couple of his masterpieces.

Other sites to visit are the Cathedral, the church of San Giovanni Battista, the Oratory of San Giuseppe, and the tomb of the Duke of Urbino Federico da Montefeltro at the church of San Bernardino.
